Match #20: Denmark vs. Germany Predictions

The Danes have played well at Euro 2012, but they are massive underdogs to beat the Germans. The Germans only need a draw in order to lock-up 1st place in the Group of Death, but Joachim Low will have his squad prepared to win. The Danes need to try and win this match or at the worst draw in order to have a chance to qualify for the QF’s, but they’ll need help from Holland.

Denmark Tournament Recap (1-0-1)

Denmark faltered in their last match against Portugal and lost 3-2 in a heartbreaker. Portugal took a 2-0 lead, but the next two goals of the match were scored by Bendtner on the Danes to equalize the match at 2-2 in the 80th minute. Denmark couldn’t hold on for the draw though, as Varela scored for Portugal in the 87th minute to secure the victory.

Germany Tournament Recap (2-0-0)

Germany is off to a great start with a 2-0-0 record in group stage, but they need to be careful about this match. Germany needs at least a draw against the Danes tomorrow to qualify in 1st place in Group A and after the way they’ve performed anything less than 1st place would be a disappointment for the German squad.

Denmark vs. Germany Betting Tips

It’s hard to imagine the Germans losing this match against the Danes, but anything is possible in football. I don’t recommend betting on the Germans at 1.75 odds, but I do think they should win this match. Mario Gomez has been playing excellent right now at Euro 2012 and he already has 3 goals in 2 matches, which his him tied atop of the golden boot leaders.

The reason I recommend not betting on the Germans is because historically they struggle against the Danes. In the H2H series since 2000 the Danes are 2-1-0 against the Germans in 3 friendly matches. On the big stage I expect the Germans to win, but the Germans don’t need a win and may be satisfied with a draw late in the match, so at 1.75 I’d avoid the 1×2 market.

Denmark vs. Germany Best Bets

I’m betting on the U2.5 in this match even though the Germans U2.5 lost for me last time. Germany is going to play to win, but at the same time I expect them to be defensive minded like they have all tournament. Germany conceded a late goal to the Dutch, but that was the only goal that the Germans have conceded in 2 matches.

Denmark conceded 3 goals in their last match and they know they need to tighten it up against the Germans if they want to try and have a shot at stealing this match from the Germans at the end. With Mario Gomez and other prolific scorers on the pitch it’s never easy betting U2.5 goals, but I think it’s likely to be low scoring.

The only promo for this match at the moment is the 0-0 draw at Bet365. You can bet on several markets including the goalscorer markets. Mario Gomez has been in great form and is the most likely to score for the Germans while Bendtner has been playing well for the Danes and could be a scoring threat in this match tomorrow.
