There is plenty of sports action in August this year. The London Olympics continue through the start of August, which also sees the US Open tennis tournament being played, the final of the Super 15′s along with the start of the 2012-13 English Premier League season…
After a few months break, the EPL season is upon us again and what a season we look to have ahead of us. It starts on the 18th August with last years champions Man City taking on Arsenal at home. Read our full EPL season preview at the link below.
Golf in August 2012 :
The first week of August sees the lead-up to the US PGA championships in the Bridgestone Invitational being played in Akron, Ohio between August 2nd-5th. Then its on to South Carolina for the 2012 US PGA Championships starting on August 9th.
It’s a big month for union fans this month with the Super 15 final being played on August 4th and the 2012 Bledisloe Cup kicking off at ANZ stadium, Sydney between the Wallabies and All-Blacks on the 18th and then again at Eden Park on the 25th for the return bout. South Africa and Argentina also play-off in two test matches on the same days.

The US Open gets going towards the end of August, beginning on the 27th and going through to the US Open mens final being played on the 9th of September. The Fed express recently just gained his number one ranking back after beating Murray in the Wimbledon final and now holds the record for most number of weeks at the top of all time (beating Sampras’s record).
Nadal went out early at Wimbeldon and Djokovic got beat by Roger in the semi’s, so its sure to be a hotly contested US Open this year.
Its tight at the top of the formula one championship table so its sure to be a tightly fought out Belgium Grand Prix at the end of the month. Alonzo has a tight lead over Vettel and Webber, after winning the German Grand Prix.
There’s also 2 Moto GP’s this month with the Indianapolis MotoGP on the 19th of August and the Czech Republic MotoGP on the 26th.
College Football (NCAAF)
The NCAAF 2012-2013 season starts on the 30th of August this year. It was the year of the Crimson Tide at the 2011-12 BCS National Championships and all eyes will be on them to see if they can repeat last years stunning performance.
